Tamil Kitchen Tools Part II

This is the traditional nazhi or murukku acchu or chakli press through which murukku or rice crisps are squeezed. Thenkuzhal, manangombu, omap podi and nadap pakkoda are the other deep-fried snack items that can be made with this mould.





This is the traditional knife mounted on a wooden plank for cutting vegetables called arival manai.








This filter with "umbrella" is for brewing coffee decoction as coffee is a must with breakfast





This is the traditional ammi or hand quern for grinding spices. This is a mini grinding stone with pestle on top for crushing or grinding spices
